i actually prefer this style haha. easier to read (t.lasimestari). our pick-up car was late and arrived around 8 am. the car was a van and there were eight of us and the driver. on the backseat was a family of three, mom dad and a baby. they were behind my seat and i connected with the baby many times throughout the ride. looking at her, smiling, chatting, letting her touch my hands and face, whatever really. there was also an older man who was observing my way of making the connection. in the front row there were three younger girls. we talked a bit and i started listening to music and writing, at times just looking around the scenery. i fell in love with bali based on 16 hours and will be back for sure.
we got to the harbour where we got tickets to the ferry from a restaurant. we waited for the ferry for quite a while and i took a moment listening to music and said hi to the sand and the sea with my feet. more and more people came to the waiting spot and each had a sticker on their shirts saying which gili island they are going to. three options: gili air (relaxing), gili trawangan (parties) and gili meno (honeymoon). it was friday and my friend's friend was having a birthday there so gili trawangan it was. gilies are also close to lombok where natali was staying at so it was just one stop on my way there.
when the ferry crew said the sun deck is open me and anna (an angel from holland) went up. even tho it was windy and cloudy, i got burned. half of my face, parts of my neck and my arms and legs were red like a lobster. luckily in the cottage yard was aloe vera that i put on the burns.
the first evening i went to eat by myself but heard some estonian/finnish behind me and asked four guys if the are from estonia. from finland, oulu. i joined them for dinner and a beer. they all played floorball and knew my big brother. small world. i was so tired and the beer made me even more so i went to sleep. couldn't sleep until 3 am because of the loud music but i was fine. listening to my own music, chatting with friends from finland and reading stuff. also my puerto rican friend sent me a link for this documentary about star children, so i watched it as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TO1ICAyO-YE
on saturday i had a shroom-papaya shake for breakfast with two guys. after a while i went for a walk. i walked real slow and was looking at everything, taking it all in. taking pictures and videos. gili t is a beautiful island. there are actually horse carriages on the island. bicycles and horse rides. no scooters. it's so pretty. beautiful guest houses/hotels i don't know how they should be called cause they are all very unique. bars, restaurants, gardens, sun decks, pools, shops, people, music.
i had a moment with a horse. i walked close to her and let her smell me, get to know my energy. after a while i laid my hand on her neck. her breathing was fast and scared i guess but i just stood there close to her my hand on her neck, patting and massaging a bit and her breathing relaxed. i continued walking and stopped by an outside art gallery. there was one local guy carving a piece of wood. all the wood art came from his town from across the sea in lombok. it started raining and i ran to the nearest shelter, a nice looking restaurant. i sat at the bar and ordered a coconut. a canadian guy also got stuck there and we started chatting. he teaches english to three graders in south korea. i felt creative and had so many ideas so i felt like writing.
i got hungry and wanted to find some nice vegetarian place. universe heard my wish and one thing led to another. i was walking back and felt like going on the beach behind the bars. one local man with a fishing boat gave me advice about how to get to lombok and showed me a quieter room if i wanted to move there cause i told him i could hear all the noice in my room and couldn't sleep last night. opposite the place i heard reggae music and a german girl who i had a chat with. she needed to go to the store near by so i joined her. there was also a guy who had lived in gili t over a year now and he recommended a nice vegetarian place for me to eat at and told me the directions (close to the big moskeija). it was raining again and an italian guy with an umbrella walked before me and i asked if i may join under. after his stop another guy, local asked me to come over. i went to the bar and he shared a cigarette with me. he walked me to the veg place cause he knew where it was and knew the staff there. also he made me a braid (similar i had in varkala). one finnish and one german woman joined us for food and i massaged the german and showed her some good yoga stretches cause she had some issues with her body. at the next table from ours was a scottish guy, blair, who had lived abroad for 18 years. he's living now in gili t. he had studied different tribes in the world for example saame tribe we have in finland. also he knew the whole kalevala story. he was so interesting i would've loved to hear him tell his stories more.
after dinner i felt tired again so i went back to the cottage. my friend was already in bed but wanted me to go get him some food. he gave me earplugs so i got a little bit more sleep that night.
blair had asked me to stop by at a reggae cafe where he worked before i left gili t the next morning. i went there for a salad but couldn't see him. anna saw me eating there and joined me. i asked her to write in my journal. got the idea from mila, she wanted me to write in hers and she also wrote in mine. both of them wrote so beautiful things i can't even. <3 i walked to the harbour to buy tickets to lombok and waited for a public boat. whenever it is full it leaves. i had an idea that i'd go to the veg place and leave a note to blair. i asked if it's okay and the ticket man said if the boat comes and i don't get in, i have to buy a new ticket. it was less than 1 euro so i didn't mind. i went, left a note and came back just in time to hop on the boat.
universe. it's a mysterious work of different vibes. and i love it.
