First stop: Port St John's and a random trip to see Sangomas

You experience incredible views while you drive through South Africa. So green everywhere. Different types of trees and thousands of mountains. At times you get petrol stations, small or bigger housing areas with different animals (cows, goats, horses, hen) or big cities. Port St John's is deep in the mountains with a coastline and forests with waterfalls. There are sharks near so you shouldn't swim in the ocean, but there are also some of nature's own rock pools where you could dip yourself into.

So our road trip begun on the 11th of Dec when the girls picked me up from the bus station around 9am. After about 11 hours we arrived in Port St John's. The place where we stayed at was Amapondo Backpacker Lodge. It was so cool. The dorm was BIG so our stuff had enough space. There were 12 beds and us three were the only ones there. We were hungry and pretty exhausted, but also excited about the three nights ahead. We had dinner and hung out with the people who worked there as volunteers. Four other people (3 australians, from close to Byron Bay and one local rastaman) came in the dorm as well for one night and one of them (an mc, who teaches rap to kids - I call him a starseed because he had special dreams) was telling me that they are filming a documentary about Sound Healing and that they will meet Sangomas tomorrow, I was like can I come with and the next day all three of us went with them to see the Sangomas. It was about an hour away somewhere waaay in the mountains that was very difficult to drive there, the rasta was asking directions from everyone we were passing by.

You don't see this a lot so I took a picture. Apparently there was a police academy near by.

Simple living in the mountains

Eventually we got there. It was a small holding of a local family and there were a couple of simple local style buildings and eco toilets. The two Sangomas (a Zulu word for Southern African traditional healers) to me looked like kings. I got the feeling that they must have done something nasty in their past life if not in their past this life, there was something in their eyes... The other one actually told me that he had a dream the night before that we would come there. Maybe they were once pirates and did something bad to me and I was there now to heal the past traumas. I don't know, these funny thoughts just come to my mind out of nowhere.

One of the australians was interviewing one of the Sangomas for the documentary and he was asking about dreams, because he had seen dreams where he flew in space and met different types of extraterrestrials and stuff and was pretty scared of the dreams for he didn't understand what they wanted to tell him. I know something so I was very interested about the subject and was listening. But to me it seemed like the Sangoma wasn't that deep in the dreamworld so the answers weren't what I was hoping to hear, but the guy I guess was happy with them. There were also three Sangoma students and one of them told her story, all of them had had some illness which was why they were seeking something else to heal them. Also there was a lady who looked like an angel and I asked her what her story was. She never had children, only a miscarriage and was looking for answers for why God didn't want her to have kids.. While I was massaging the dream Aussie to get anxiousness out of him, she noticed something in me, that I'm on the path of becoming a healer and wanted to coach me. She was also on her own healing journey and I appreciated her for sharing her story and wise words. After that the king who dreamt about us did something to me too, massaging and something else that felt really good but was strange, kind of like throwing bad energy off of my shoulders. They both were giving me information about how to protect myself from energy vampires. We weren't planning on spending the night there but the australians were and we would have never found our way back without them so we stayed as well.

There were about twenty of us sleeping in the cabin

Getting ready for the Sangoma ritual
I was so tired and me and Tuuli were sleeping during the ritual, where they were dancing and shouting and drumming. Somehow it was relaxing and it was allright sleeping in the noise. The next morning we had to leave before 5 am because the Aussies needed to get to the airport in time. I told them that I'm going to come to Byron Bay, and I'd love to make music with rappers and I also love working with kids. This random trip was meant to happen and we'll see how it goes when I get there. If I ever see the guys again.

Ah I don't like this post, it's so hot here and my brain doesn't work properly now, also it's my last few hours in South Africa and I had some problems with my flight tickets (apparently I didn't have any so I bought new ones). After three flights I'll be in Goa TOMORROW !!! My friend Babal will pick me up at the airport. Now I go to the post office to send some stuff to places and sooooon I'll go to the airport.
